What an awesome first day at Ride the Rockies 2018. What an amazing bike tour experience! Riders were treated to 77 miles and 5,000 ft. of climbing over Fremont Pass, Tennessee Pass, across the Redcliffe Bridge, over Battle Mountain and into Minturn. After Copper Mtn, strong headwinds up to the climb to Freemont made it quite a challenging day. But but the temperatures were absolutely perfect for this time of year. After a quick rest stop in Minturn, we descended down into Edwards for a Day 1 finish and celebration party hosted by Team Samaritan House.
Our guests were welcomed into Beaver Creek for their stay at the Borders Lodge near Beaver Creek Village. After a quick swim and hot tub, we made out way over to Beaver Creek Chop House for burgers and beers slopeside.
Tomorrow riders will cycle 70 miles to Steamboat Springs by way of Wolcott Gap, Bond, McCoy and then arrive at Sheraton Villas Steamboat for some much needed rest.
Hats off to Dierdre Moynihan and the Ride the Rockies staff, the host communities and the hundreds of volunteers who make this happen every year! There is nothing quite like Ride the Rockies.
Another great day at Yellow Bike Tours! Ride on!
